What Is TDF?

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) is an HIV drug sold by Gilead Sciences, Inc. under the brand names Viread®, Truvada®, Truvada for PrEP®, Atripla®, Complera®, and Stribild®. TDF is commonly prescribed to treat or prevent HIV infection. However, it has been reported to FDA and Gilead itself warns that TDF can cause loss of kidney function and decreased bone mineral density.
