T-Mobile Data Breach Lawsuit 2021
Acclaimed Class Action Attorneys Ready to Fight for You
In August, a hacker broke into T-Mobile’s servers and stole the personal data of tens of millions of its former, current, and prospective customers. And although the company kicked the hacker off its servers, it did not manage to do so until after he had downloaded the data locally. That information (names, phone numbers, social security numbers, and more) is now being sold online.
If you believe that your personal data was compromised in the T-Mobile data breach, you may benefit from joining a class action lawsuit. Kershaw Talley Barlow is currently investigating the widespread breach and helping those impacted by it. We have extensive experience in class action lawsuits pertaining to negligent and unlawful practices of large corporations.

About the T-Mobile Data Breach in August 2021
When news of the T-Mobile data breach first broke, a hacker told VICE that the data of more than 100 million T-Mobile customers had been stolen. In the days after, it was confirmed that the number was closer to 50 million. Still, that’s 50 million people who may now have their personal data up for sale online.
Please note: As of now, there has been no indication that hackers breached customers’ financial information.
Suing T-Mobile for the Data Breach
Anyone whose data has been compromised may qualify to participate in a class action lawsuit against T-Mobile for its failure to protect customers’ sensitive information and, as the hacker who took credit for the breach said, its “awful” security.
How to Know if You Were Affected
If you belong to any of the following groups, your personal data may have been stolen during the August 2021 data breach:
- Current T-Mobile customers: names, phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, ID information, dates of birth, and identifiers unique to your mobile device and SIM card, like IMEI and IMSI
- Former T-Mobile customers: names, phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, ID information, and dates of birth
- Prospective T-Mobile customers: names, phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, ID information, and dates of birth
- Active and inactive T-Mobile prepaid customers: names, phone numbers, and PINs
- Customers of Metro by T-Mobile: names
There is no database you can search to see if your data was compromised—for now, all T-Mobile’s site has is a page announcing the breach, with links to sign up for identity protection services. T-Mobile has said it is in the process of notifying customers who have been affected.
Don’t Wait to Take Legal Action
When companies and corporations cause harm to the public, a class action lawsuit is often the most effective way to hold them accountable. Class actions have already been filed against T-Mobile. If successful, class members may be compensated for damages, such as:
- Identity theft
- Loss of privacy
- Cost of identity protection services
- Cost of credit monitoring
- Time lost due to the data breach
At Kershaw Talley Barlow, we put our clients first. This approach has amounted to over $1 billion in client recoveries. Stolen data and personal identifying information is stressful and frustrating. Our attorney team aims to ease this stress, alleviate your frustration, and hold T-Mobile accountable.
