Update on Status of Camp Fire Cases

Kershaw Talley Barlow provides an update on the status of your case relating to the Camp Fire. As of right now, 12 lawsuits against Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) have been filed in three different counties: Sacramento, Butte, and San Francisco.

Petition for Coordination of Camp Fire Cases

In December, Kershaw Talley Barlow filed a petition to have all of these cases coordinated. The hearing on this petition will take place on January 31, 2019.

A petition for coordination asks a court for permission to have all related cases placed in front of one judge; doing this provides consistency and prevents precarious situations where many judges in several jurisdictions rule differently on similar issues in similar cases.

Where Will Camp Fire Cases Be Consolidated?

The hearing on January 31st will determine the county where all the cases will be consolidated. Judge Karnow in the Superior Court of San Francisco will be conducting the hearing and will decide where the cases should be venued. He has a reputation of being fair and efficient. The litigation will begin once Judge Karnow decides where the cases will be consolidated.,
