Lend a Hand This Holiday Season: Charities We Support

In the spirit of the holidays, we'd like to share a little bit about some of our favorite charities. Our team at Kershaw Talley Barlow has always been passionate about giving back to our community, and we make a point to do our part to support a variety of charitable organizations throughout the whole year. There are, however, a few charities and organizations in particular that are near and dear to our hearts. To help you get to know us better, and perhaps to spark that giving spirit, we’d like to tell you a bit about some of the organizations we support as a firm.

Make-A-Wish

Perhaps one of the most well-known charity organizations, the Make-A-Wish foundation grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Wishes vary greatly, and can include anything from meeting a favorite athlete to visiting a theme park. Our firm has participated in events for the Northeastern & Central California and Northern Nevada chapter, which grants roughly 400 wishes each year.

Public Justice Foundation

The Public Justice Foundation is a group of public interest advocates who work to fight injustice for ordinary people in need. They’ve taken action to help those affected by dangerous pharmaceuticals, harmful products, unjust employers, and other negligent parties. The attorneys in this organization have held several initiatives and campaigns to address issues like bullying, civil rights, consumers’ rights, gender and sexual violence, environmental injustices, and workers’ rights.

Habitat For Humanity

Our firm is also passionate about helping Habitat for Humanity, a global nonprofit organization that focuses on building homes to support families and communities. They construct, rehabilitate, and preserve homes for those in need, and they also help improve shelter conditions.

Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children

The National Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children Association, also called CASA, pairs children with court-appointed volunteer legal advocates. The children in this program are often brought before the court because of abuse or negligence allegations, and they require their own personal legal advocate to ensure their best interests are protected and heard. Our firm is proud to participate in this organization by providing victims of domestic abuse with the legal help they need and deserve.

Our firm is passionate about using our legal experience and resources to help our community—both in Sacramento and beyond. We support the efforts of each of these charities, and more, and are proud to use our skills to their benefit.
