McKinney Fire Lawsuits
See If You Can Sue Pacific Power for the McKinney Fire
The McKinney Fire in Northern California is now considered a ‘deadly’ blaze after it was confirmed that several people have lost their lives, including fire response personnel. Early investigations suggest that the fire was caused entirely by the negligence of Pacific Power and its parent company, PacifiCorp. It is only right that these utility companies are therefore held liable for those lost lives, as well as the rest of the harm caused by the fire.
At Kershaw Talley Barlow, we are proud champions for the wrongfully injured throughout California. When we hear that a power company has once again caused a deadly fire—which is not a wildfire because the cause is not natural—we immediately want to know who needs our legal help. If you lost property or a loved one to the McKinney Fire, then please reach out to us right now. With our representation, you might be able to secure compensation and justice through a lawsuit against Pacific Power and PacifiCorp.

About the McKinney Fire

At the time of this writing, the McKinney Fire has caused:
- 4 fatalities
- 12 injuries
- 185 destroyed structures
- 11 damaged structures
- 60,389 acres burned
How Did the McKinney Fire Start?
Given that the McKinney Fire was still burning as of late August 2022, the investigations into its source have not been completed. However, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) has already found a more-than-likely link to negligence from Pacific Power. According to the power company’s records, customers lost power in the region the night before. The company inspected the powerline in the area but did not report any visible damage. Shortly after power was restored the next morning, the fire began. Furthermore, it appears that the fire began directly underneath one of the company’s powerlines in the same circuit that was affected by the power outage.
Coincidence is not proof of liability, but it is a strong starting point for investigations. CalFire officials suspect that further investigation would likely make the connection between the McKinney Fire and PacifiCorp’s powerlines clearer.
Who is Liable for the McKinney Fire?
Liability for the deadly McKinney Fire will more than likely be placed on Pacific Power and PacifiCorp. We suggest that you start working on a case against them now if you lost a loved one or your property to the McKinney Fire. Kershaw Talley Barlow and our McKinney Fire lawyers can help you get a strong case built and ready to file as soon as liability for the fire is officially placed on these power companies. Even if CalFire does not officially state that Pacific Power caused the fire, though, we can still consider the necessary steps to bring a lawsuit against them.
